How to check the outcome of a data flow

This page is intended for administrators: the operations described require access to the administration area.

Check the outcome of data flow executions and read error messages. You need the Data Flow admin or Data flow Viewer user permission.

The latest execution

In the menu, select Admin, then Data flow. In the Data Flows list, the Last execution column shows the outcome of the latest execution:

Outcome Meaning
Not started The data flow has never been run
Running The execution is in progress
Completed The execution finished without errors
Completed with errors The execution encountered errors

No outcome is shown for a suspended data flow.

Executions and logs

  1. In the data flow row, click the Logs icon. The data flow executions page opens.
  2. If needed, filter by Has errors and by start and end dates.
  3. In an execution row, click View under Logs.
  4. In the window, select Logs for execution messages or Exceptions for the errors that stopped the execution. Error messages are prefixed with [ERROR].

Executions are retained for 30 days.

For a GenericExportConnector, View under Product Groups shows products with issues: EVALUATION_ERRORS lists those for which a column calculation failed, while MISSING_REQUIRED lists those missing a value in a required column.

Error emails

When an execution encounters errors, the addresses in Error Recipients (emails) receive an email with the subject “Dataflow … failed - ACTION REQUIRED”. The email contains the data flow name, the error messages and a link to the executions page. The first successful execution after an error triggers a “Dataflow … restored” email.

A failed execution is automatically retried several times, so you may receive multiple emails for the same issue.
