How to restrict a user to specific brands, channels and languages

This page is for administrators: the steps described require access to the administration area.

Define which brands, channels, languages and companies a user can work with. You need access to the Users administration area. Open the user in Admin → Users using the Edit icon, configure the relevant sections and click Save.

Product brands

The Product section contains a block for each product entity type.

  1. In the entity type block, choose All Brands or Selected Brands.
  2. With Selected Brands, choose the brands in Enabled Brands. SELECT ALL selects all current brands, but brands added later are not added to the user's selection. To include future brands, use All Brands.

The user cannot edit any attributes of products belonging to other brands, even through bulk edit, Excel imports or AI features. These products remain visible in the list and on the product details page.

If you make no selection for an entity type, all products of that entity type are read-only for the user. With Selected Brands, products without a brand cannot be edited.

Marketing tool brands

In the Marketing tool section, choose All Brands or Selected Brands and select the brands in Enabled Brands. The user cannot edit attributes of marketing tools belonging to other brands.

Channels

In the Channels section:

  1. Choose All Channels or Selected Channels.
  2. With Selected Channels, select the channels. SELECT ALL and SELECT NONE select or deselect all channels.

The user sees only their assigned channels in the selector at the top and on channel pages. On the product details page, they can edit production, staging, publication dates, availability and price match only for their assigned channels. The product overview and attribute errors also relate only to those channels. In the product list, the My channels column shows the status for their assigned channels.

Languages

In the Permissions section, under Enabled locale, choose the user's languages. If you leave this empty, the user can work in all languages.

For translated text, the user can edit only their assigned languages: values in other languages remain unchanged, including during bulk edit.

To import from Excel, the file's language must be listed in Enabled locale. For users who need to import from Excel, explicitly select the languages, even if you want to allow all of them.

Companies

In the Permissions section, under Enabled companies, choose the companies. For status attributes, such as those of type StatusValue, the user can edit values only for their assigned companies.

Check the settings

Ask the user to reload the page: the channel selector and available languages will reflect the new settings.
