Media library glossary
Terms used in the media library documentation.
| Term | Meaning |

| Media | a library item: an image, video, PDF or other document, or a YouTube or Vimeo video |
| Workspace | an area of the library that organises media and defines permissions |
| Incoming workspace | the workspace assigned to files uploaded through the library |
| Archive workspace | the dedicated workspace for media you want to keep but not use |
| Public media | a media item that belongs to at least one public workspace; its link does not expire |
| Private media | a media item that belongs only to private workspaces; its link expires |
| Collection | a manually selected list of media that does not move or copy the media items |
| Automatic collection | a list prepared by openlane for each user, such as My uploads |
| Workflow | a step-by-step approval process |
| Approved media | a media item whose workflows have all completed successfully, or which has no workflows |
| Version | one of the files associated with a media item over time; previous versions are available in the Revisions tab |
| Download format | a combination of file type and dimensions in which you can download an image |
| Crop | a section of an image saved with a name; shown as Crops in the interface |
| Crop aspect ratio | a ratio, such as 16:9, that guides you when drawing a crop |
| Media attribute | an attribute on a product, marketing tool or other record that contains media; you configure it in Admin → Attributes |
