Media library permissions

This page is for administrators: the operations described require access to the administration area.

You configure media library permissions in the user profile under Admin → Users. The underlying model is described in Who can see what: media library permissions.

Workspace permissions

The DAM Permissions section has one row per workspace.

Column Value Allowed operations
View & download yes / no Find, open and download media in the workspace
Delete None No deletion
Not Approved Delete media that have not yet been approved
All Media Delete any media
Edit None No editing
Not Approved - My Uploads Edit unapproved media uploaded by the user
Not Approved - All Edit all unapproved media
All - My Uploads Edit all media uploaded by the user
All Edit any media
Replace yes / no Replace a media file with a new version

For media that belong to multiple workspaces, permission in any one of those workspaces is sufficient.

Upload permissions

  • To upload media to a workspace, Edit must be set to All or All - My Uploads for that workspace. Newly uploaded media are considered approved, so Not Approved - My Uploads and Not Approved - All are not sufficient.
  • Uploading from a product's media attribute requires upload permission in both the incoming workspace and the attribute's workspace.
  • Editing a media attribute requires View & download permission in all the attribute's workspaces.
