How to configure an attribute
This page is for administrators: the steps described require access to the administration area.
Some attribute types have their own options: selectable values, media attribute workspaces, the linked reference entity or permitted HTML tags. You set these on the attribute configuration page, which is separate from the main form.
- From the menu, select Admin, then Attributes, and choose the entity type in Entity.
- In the attribute row, click the Configure icon. Alternatively, open the attribute with Edit and click Configuration.
- Set the options. These vary by attribute type and are described on each type's page, starting from Attribute types.
- Click Save.
The Configure icon and Configuration button appear only for attribute types that have configuration options.
Importing and exporting values in Excel
For attributes with predefined values, namely SelectableOptionsGlobalValue, SelectableOptionsLocaleValue, ScopedOptionsLocaleValue and ScopedOptionsCountryValue, the configuration page may display the Export excel and Import excel buttons. You can use these to manage values in bulk.
- Click Export excel and open the downloaded file.
- Edit the values in the file without changing the sheet name.
- Click Import excel and select the file.
- Select Remove missing values if you want to delete values that are not in the file. Without this option, they remain unchanged.
- Confirm the import.
The import updates the attribute configuration immediately.
The Excel sheet name must match the attribute name, otherwise the import will be rejected.
With Remove missing values, values missing from the file are deleted from the configuration. If a value is still needed but should no longer be available for selection, keep it in the file and, where the attribute type supports this, deactivate it.
