How to create an automation

This page is for administrators: the steps described require access to the administration area.

Create an automation, choose its trigger and define its blocks. You need access to Automations in the administration area. The automation model is described in Automations: triggers, blocks, conditions and actions.

Create the automation

  1. From the menu, select Admin, then Automations.
  2. Click Add new.
  3. In Linked To - Entity Type, choose the product entity type. Automations run only on products.
  4. Click Confirm. The automation page opens.

Details

  1. Enter a name in Name. This is required.
  2. Leave Enabled selected if you want the automation to be active immediately.
  3. Choose whether to enable Stop after first match.
  4. In Channels, click Add for each channel configuration and choose Channel, Country and Locale.

Triggers

In Trigger type, choose the type:

  • On attribute change: use Add attribute to add the attributes to monitor. If no attributes are monitored, the automation never starts;
  • Time: set the schedule and click SET PREFILTERS to choose which products to process. Prefilters are required.

With the Time trigger, prefilters are applied to each channel configuration. Add at least one channel in Details: without channels, the automation processes all products of the entity type.

Blocks

  1. Click Add block and enter a name in Block name.
  2. In Variables, click Add var for each variable. In the Transient variable window, enter a name starting with $, choose Mode and the operation in Op, then the operands. Click Save.
  3. In Conditions, set the conditions:
    • in Transient var conditions, choose a Boolean variable in Boolean var and the expected value, true or false;
    • in Attribute conditions, click SET CONDITIONS and set the attribute conditions as you would in product search filters.
  4. In Actions, click the Add attributes icon, then choose the attributes to set and their values. To record an event, choose Event actions in Event type and enter the text in Event detail (template).
  5. Repeat for the remaining blocks. Use the Move up and Move down icons to change the block order.

The available operations and the values you can use in the event text are described in Automation settings.

Save

  1. Check the summary in Summary.
  2. Click Save.

You return to the Automations list, where the automation appears with the status Active if it is enabled. Save remains disabled if the name or trigger is missing or, for the Time trigger, if the schedule or prefilters are missing.

Disable or delete an automation

To disable an automation, open it using the Edit icon, clear Enabled and click Save: it appears in the list with the status Disable.

To delete an automation, click the Delete icon in its row in the list and confirm. The message Automation removed appears. Changes already made to products and the execution history are retained.
