From upload to product

In this tutorial, you upload an image to the library, link it to a product during upload and move it to the correct workspace.

Prerequisites:

  • permission to upload media to the incoming workspace, usually Incoming;
  • permission to edit the product you want to link the image to;
  • permission to change the workspace of media and to edit the destination workspace;
  • an image on your computer and a product code (SKU).

1. Open the upload page

  1. In the top menu, select Media.
  2. In the sidebar, under Workspaces, click the incoming workspace, usually Incoming.
  3. At the top right, click Upload.

The Upload media page opens. Files uploaded from this page are assigned to the incoming workspace.

2. Set the shared details

In the Defaults for this session section:

  1. Under Type, select the image type, for example the main photo.
  2. Under Products, click Add products, search for the product by its code and select it.

If the Products field is not displayed, linking to products from the upload page has not been configured. Contact your administrator before continuing.

3. Upload the file

  1. Drag the image into the Files section, or click the area and select it from your computer.
  2. Wait for the upload to finish: the bar at the bottom shows how many media items have been uploaded.
  3. Check the suggested title on the file card and change it if necessary.
  4. Click Confirm.

The Upload confirmed summary opens, showing the number of media items updated and the number of products they have been linked to.

4. Check the product

  1. Open the selected product.
  2. Open the media attribute containing the product images.

The image you just uploaded is at the bottom of the list.

5. Move the media item to its workspace

  1. Return to Media and open the incoming workspace.
  2. Click the image to open its details.
  3. Under Workspaces, click the destination workspace, for example the products workspace.

The destination workspace is highlighted and the media item is removed from the incoming workspace.

Result

The image is in the library, belongs to the correct workspace and appears on the product. To upload multiple files at once or create a collection during upload, see How to upload media.
